when words are not enough
overcome traumatic memories
with somatic resources
I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and the EMDR protocol. Sensorimotor therapy and EMDR can help us explore and overcome unprocessed experiences from the past.

What is Sensorimotor Psychotherapy ?
Sensorimotor psychotherapy is body-based talk therapy, integrating current findings from neuroscience to transform traumatic memories into strengths and resources for the client. It works with developmental trauma, such as maternal lack of attunement, as well as acute or gross trauma like sexual abuse, violence, or verbal abuse. Sensorimotor therapists work on mindfulness and collaboration with the client, repeatedly asking permission to do each experiment or process along the way.

Somatic Experiencing VS. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Somatic experiencing (SE) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) are both therapies that address trauma and stress by focusing on how the body is affected. SE involves working through the body sensations and responses that are connected to trauma. Sensorimotor psychotherapy is built on a similar premise as SE, but adds a talk therapy approach after the person has worked through the body's responses to trauma.

What is EMDR ?
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. Numerous studies have established that EMDR is an effective therapy for the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder. Research has typically compared EMDR to the other available evidence-based treatment, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy.
